Video games are awesome, but so are vacations. Sometimes you want to go relax in a tropical paradise like Cancun, Mexico, but you’d like to play some games during the downtime that happens on vacations. Well you’re in luck, because we’ve compiled a list of five ways to keep you gaming on vacation.
MOGA Pro Power Controller for Android
If you are a loyal Android user and you play a lot of games on your smartphone, then you have to get your hands on the MOGA Pro Power controller for Android devices. The thing i love about this accessory is that it’s shaped similarly to the very popular Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers. With your typical A, B, X, Y button mapping, shoulder buttons, triggers, analog sticks and a directional pad, you’ve never had more control of mobile gaming.
Mad Catz C.T.R.L. i for iOS
The Mad Catz C.T.R.L. i is a controller designed for mobile game on Apple devices, and it’s not too different from the MOGA Pro Power. The C.T.R.L. i is designed to look and feel just like an Xbox One or Xbox 360 controller, so it really feels right at home in your hands. The Mad Catz controller comes with a high gloss finish, compared to the matte finish on the MOGA Pro Power. Really it just comes down to Apple or Android, so if you have a newer iOS device, pick up this controller. You won’t be disappointed.
Nintendo 3DS XL
Ah yes, the 3DS, how the gaming masses love you. It’s no secret that Nintendo’s handheld consoles have been doing much better than their home console attempt with the Wii U, and so is the case with the wildly successful Nintendo 3DS. Really you can play the 3DS games on the original Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL, and even the Nintendo 2DS, you just can’t take advantage of the 3D functionality with the 2DS. I love all of the consoles equally, and it was a toss up for me whether to include the 2DS or the 3DS XL, but I had to give the slight edge to the 3DS XL due to the sheer size of the screen. I mean that’s the entire selling point after all. It’s so great being able to play great Nintendo titles like Mario Kart, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask and Super Smash Bros. all on a nintendo handheld, and it’s even better being able to play online with friend and connect the handheld to your Wii U when not traveling.
Retro Duo Portable NES/SNES Game System
The day the Retro Duo Portable was invented was a great day in video game history. If you enjoy retro gaming as much as I do, this is the handheld for you. Instead of playing gameboy and GBA cartridges, you simply use your NES and SNES cartridges. That’s right, you can have the power of the NES and SNES in your hands everywhere you go. What’s even better is the fact you can plug the Retro Duo Portable into your home’s HDTV and play that way when you aren’t traveling. Maybe it’s just me, but being able to play your retro games anywhere is awesome. The deal gets even sweeter, because the Retro Duo Portable lets you plug in two controllers for two player games.
GAEMS Vanguard Personal Gaming Environment
This, my gaming brothers and sisters, is the holy mecca of portable video gaming. the GAEMS Vanguard Personal Gaming Environment allows you to plug your home game console into it and play wherever you want. The outside is a hard case to protect your console and the interior LCD screen that displays the games. It even has pockets to hold your controllers and straps to keep everything from moving around inside of the case. It costs almost as much as a Xbox One or PS4 and doesn’t come with the consol. But, if you can afford it the GAEMS Vanguard Personal Gaming Environment is the way to go.
